Los Angeles Avengers News Release

LOS ANGELES - Even though it is the off-season, Avenger players, coaches and "A-Team" dancers regularly visit schools, hospitals and community events.

This week, "A-Team" dancers Shea and Tiffany spent Thursday, August 31 at the Manny Mota Field of Dreams Charity Golf Tournament at Brookside Golf Course in the city of Pasadena. The "A-Team" dancers signed autographs and took pictures with the participants.

"Manny does so many great things for kids in need." Shea said. "I'm more than happy to support his foundation and the good work that they do for the community in L.A. and in the Dominican Republic."

Mota was joined by his friends Kenny Lofton (current dodger), Rob Fukuzai (ABC7 sports anchor), Maury Wills (former Dodger), Kenny Landreaux (former Dodger), Tommy Davis (former Dodger), Willie Davis (former Dodger), Don Newcombe (former Dodger), "Sweet Lou" Johnson (former Dodger), Bobby Castillo (former Dodger), Christian Okoye (former Kansas City Chiefs), Maybelle Blair & Shirley Berkovich (former All-American Girls Professional Baseball League) and current Dodger coaches, Mariano Duncan, Eddie Murray and Rick Honeycutt.

Donations from the event benefit the humanitarian work of the Manny Mota International Foundation (MMIF) in the Dominican Republic and United States. During the off-season, Manny and his wife Margarita are at "Campo de Suenos" (Field of Dreams) preparing daily meals for over 250 families and working with 600 little leaguers. Thanks to the support received from Dominican president, Leonel Fernandez, construction has started for a school playground, basketball courts, bleachers, dugouts, stadium lights and Margarita's dream of an elementary school for the neighboring communities and a modern kitchen.
