Austin's Jerrels, Jones Named Co-Performers Of The Week

NEW YORK, Dec. 21, 2009 - Curtis Jerrels and Dwayne Jones of the Austin Toros were today named NBA Development League Co-Performers of the Week for games played during the week of Dec. 14.

The duo led Austin to a 2-0 record, which included road victories over the Albuquerque Thunderbirds.

Jerrels averaged 30 points, 6.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 3.0 steals while shooting 58 percent (21-of-36) from the field in the two games at Albuquerque. The former Baylor guard scored a career-high 34 points on 12-of-19 shooting from the field to go with seven assists in a 110-104 win on Dec. 15. He followed up that performance with 16 points, seven rebounds and eight assists on Dec. 18. On the season, Jerrels ranks ninth in the league in scoring with 20.1 points over 11 games.

Jones, a forward/center out of St. Joseph's (PA), averaged 21.5 points and 24.0 rebounds, while shooting 15-of-24 (.625) from the floor. Jones put up back-to-back 24-rebound performances, (NBA D-League season highs), while scoring 27 points on Dec. 15 and 16 points on Dec. 18. Jones is averaging a league-leading 14.5 rebounds, while also ranking first in field goal percentage (63 percent) this season.

Other top performers last week included Iowa's Earl Barron, who averaged 15 points and 12 rebounds in three games for the Energy; Dakota's Romel Beck, who averaged 19.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in two games for the Wizards; Sioux Falls' Keith Brumbaugh, who averaged 20.3 points and 5.6 rebounds in thee games for the Skyforce; and Tulsa's Larry Owens, who averaged 23.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in two games for the 66ers.
