Austin Wranglers News Release
AUSTIN-The Austin Wranglers will celebrate the commencement of the team's fifth year of Arena Football in Austin with an opening weekend home game at the Frank Erwin Center against the Corpus Christi Sharks. The March 29 match-up will feature two of Arena Football's premier head coaches, including Austin's Ben Bennett, an Arena Football League (AFL) Hall-of-Fame inductee, and Corpus Christi's Mike Trigg, who coached the Grand Rapids Rampage to victory in ArenaBowl XV.
The 2008 Austin Wranglers home schedule features games with some of the elite teams in arenafootball2. The Rio Grande Valley Dorados, Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings, South Georgia Wildcats, and Spokane Shock, all of whom made it to the playoffs in 2007, will visit the Frank Erwin Center during the 2008 campaign. In addition to the Corpus Christi Sharks and Rio Grande Valley Dorados, the Austin Wranglers home schedule will include match-ups against three other State of Texas-based teams, including the Lubbock Renegades, Amarillo Dusters, and Texas Copperheads.
Austin will open the season with two consecutive home games - Corpus Christi and Lubbock - before taking to the road for the first time in Week 3 to face Amarillo.
