Aurora, minus three starters, blown out in Chico
Chico, CA- The Aurora Cavalry were not only knocked down 130-99 by the Chico Force on Thursday night, they were also knocked out of first place in the IBL West Division. Without the services of three starters in their lineup, the Cavalry suffered their worst loss of the season and are quickly finding out that this may be a long West Coast four game road trip.
Chico's Jason VanEck led the Force (9-6) with 31 points. Five other Force players also scored in double figures. Leslie Richardson was the top scorer for the Cavalry (10-4) with 25 points.
The Cavalry are missing three crucial starters, West Division All-Star forward, Philip Hillstock, who is also their leading scorer and rebounder, F/C Jamar Brown, the other top rebounder and their best interior defender and post player, and their assists leader, Jermaine Mason. Jermaine Mason is out with a serious ankle injury, while Hillstock and Brown were unable to make the trip due to prior basketball obligations overseas. Both Hillstock and Brown will rejoin the team for the June 22nd home game against the Eugene Chargers. Jermaine Mason is listed as day to day. The Cavalry will play the (9-4) Tri-City Ballers tonight at 7pm in Tri-City.
