Atletico Ottawa News Release
The new calendar year is underway and, with the 2023 Canadian Premier League season fast approaching, Atlético Ottawa has announced today that they will be parting ways with two players from the previous campaign.
Brian Wright
After two seasons in the capital city, striker Brian Wright has parted ways with Atlético Ottawa after his option was not exercised by the club. Having joined in 2021 Wright is second in the club's list of all-time top scorers and, with nine-goal contributions in the 2022 season, was a pivotal player both on and off the pitch as Atlético Ottawa went on to become Regular Season Champions. Wright has since signed for York United FC.
Abdou Sissoko
Former Udinese, Mallorca and Granada midfielder Abdou Sissoko has also parted ways with the club with the option to extend his stay in the capital not exercised. The 32-year-old was a mainstay in the heart of the midfield as one of Head Coach González's most used players, whilst registering one assist and standing out across a variety of key defensive areas.
Atlético Ottawa would like to thank both players for their key contributions made throughout their time with the club and wish each one the best for the next chapter of their careers.
