Atlanta Vision News Release
SUWANEE, GA - January 30, 2007 - Atlanta Vision, Atlanta 's professional basketball team in Gwinnett will host their cross divisional rivals, the Wilmington Sea Dawgs this Wednesday January 31, 2007 at Suwanee Sports Academy. The Vision's first weekday home game for the season will tip-off at an earlier 7:00pm time. The Wilmington Sea Dawgs feature former Vision Head Coach Kevin Whitted and players Cedric McGinnis and Kendrick Jones. The Vision look forward to playing in front of their home fans to decide the tie breaker game after splitting back-to-back games in Wilmington on Monday and Tuesday night last week.
Only seven Vision players made the road trip to Wilmington losing on Monday 111 to 96. An injury brought the Vision roster down to 6 available players for the next evening. Vision owners Quentin and Akilah Townsend visited the Wilmington YMCA and Martin Luther King Jr. Center looking for potential recruits. Their efforts produced the signing of four Wilmington locals to one day contracts who assisted the Vision team to a huge upset victory on Tuesday night, 100-96.
"Both games were full of emotion and exciting ABA basketball," states Vision Owner Quentin Townsend, "We look forward to playing the Sea Dawgs with our complete roster."
Now back on their home court with a healthy full roster the Vision expects key contributions from Robert Martin, Kevin Harrington, and Jarman Sample. Martin returns after scoring 19 points and 9 rebounds for the East team at the ABA All Star in Halifax, Canada on January 28th. The Wednesday night match-up will be one Vision fans don't want to miss!
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
