ATLANTA DREAM NOTES
- Angel McCoughtry posted the sixth regular-season triple-double in WNBA history with 27 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in Friday's overtime over Dallas.
- Atlanta improves to 2-0 this season versus the Wings and clinches the advantage in the season series.
- Tonight's contest marked the first-ever visit for the newly relocated Dallas Wings to Atlanta.
- Atlanta went on a 13-2 run over the final 4:16 of the opening quarter to turn a one-point deficit (17-16) into a 29-19 advantage entering the second quarter. The Dream continued to dominate the second quarter as it went on to outscore the Wings 34-19 over the final 14:16 of the first half.
- Tiffany Hayes scored 21 of her 27 points in the first half. It marked her sixth 20+ point game this season and her third in the last four games.
- Hayes was perfect from the field in the first half (8-8 FG, 3-3 3PT, 2-2 FT).

- Dallas closed out the third quarter with a 17-2 run to trim an 18-point deficit to three points (62-59) entering the final quarter.
- The Wings dominated the offensive boards which turned into a 25-9 advantage in second chance points over the Dream.
- Johnson suffered a toe injury at 8:45 of the fourth quarter and missed the remainder of the contest.

"First of all what a basketball game for the WNBA. There are not many games that are this exciting and again it is just so sad that one team had to win and one team had to lose. That's just the way the game is. A little side note... I'm glad it wasn't us! I tip my hat to that Dallas team. They are a very tough team and if they hadn't had two players go down it might have ended a bit different. I like our work ethic, I like our steadiness, and I felt like we held our composure when things got a little rocky there in the third quarter. It helps to have a superstar and Angel McCoughtry is nothing less than that. A triple-double! That is something that we've trying to get her to play with her teammates more and she's beginning to see that when you pass to them they'll make it better for you to be able to score. It's a good win for us and definitely something good to get this road trip started."
On having previous overtime experience...
"I think it was definitely an advantage because we've played a couple, and a couple of them have been on the road so being here at home with our fans cheering for us was definitely a little bit better. We knew this team was coming hard and overtime games give you that grit that you need to win championships and close games. To get this game after six losses and now we have two-in-a-row, it's a good jumpstart going onto the road."
Angel McCoughtry On tonight's intensity and her performance... "I'm getting too old for this! (chuckle) We let them come back. The game should have been finished but hey, the fans want to see a game like this. We knew once we tied the game back up at the end, overtime was ours. The fans have seen enough of us losing and I'm tired of it. I had to put my game-face on say look, 'Let's go, give me the ball.'"
Tiffany Hayes On first half performance... "I think some teams just test me to see how they'll start. If I hit the first couple, they'll start to change but my team made it easy for me to get open. They were doing some great cuts and we were moving the ball well and eventually it just got to me and I was able put the shot down."

On how to defend McCoughtry... "She takes over games."
Courtney Paris On overall team performance... "I think it was a tale of two halves. They came out with the momentum and did a great job in the first half. I thought we stayed with them the second half and obviously it came out even matched and went into overtime. We had a chance to win but we just didn't get it done."
On stopping Tiffany... "Just attention to details and adjustments from everybody. More help on the post and as a team paying attention to her."
On strategy after Dream 12 points off fast break and turnovers during the second quarter... "Coach Williams is always about teams how teams are going to go on runs. Great teams have great players that do great things but you just have to keep playing. That's kind of our thing. Also we don't want to put ourselves in that situation but we have to play through it and I thought we did a good job with doing that."
Karima Christmas On team's overall performance... "We started out a little slow but we knew coming in here that they are a great defensive team. We gave them a lot of transition points so in the second half we kind of wanted to limit that. I'm proud of the way we came out in the second half we were down by I think 17-18 and fighting back and almost winning it in regulation. It speaks volumes of what this team can do but at the same time we have to buckle down in the end and get those key stops to come out and win it."
On Dream's ball movement during first half... "We needed to be more aggressive. We were kind of letting them do what they wanted to do out there so they could get any shot that they wanted and they got a lot of points in the paint. So just being more aggressive and making them have to get the ball further out."
On mentality preparing for overtime after a fast-paced game... "That's kind of our identity this year. We had a triple overtime in Phoenix, we had another overtime at home. We just go in and play as hard as we can. You know a lot of people are tired but you know you have to dig deep in those overtimes and get those key stops and get an executed play down the stretch."
