Danville, VA - In their first road game of the season on Wednesday night, the Greeneville Astros (4-3) scored early and often on their way to a 9-5 win over the Danville Braves (4-3) at American Legion Post 325 Field at Dan Daniel Memorial Park. It was the Astros' best offensive output thus far as their nine runs on 17 hits set new season-highs.

The 17 hits by the Astros are the most by the club in a single game since the 2012 season. Juan Santana, Sean McMullen, Ydarqui Marte and Dayne Parker each had at least three hits and combined for 14 between them.

Santana, batting second, went four-for-six with a double, a run, and three RBI. He was followed in the lineup by McMullen, who was three-for-five with a run and two RBI. Batting eighth, Marte was three-for-five and scored two runs. Finally, at the bottom of the order, Parker was four-for-five with two runs.

All of the Astros' runs came in the first five innings as they built a 9-0 lead. In the first, McMullen got a RBI single to knock in Jason Martin, who scored three runs on the night from the leadoff spot. Then Jacob Nottingham hit a sacrifice fly to score McMullen in the third. In the fourth, Trent Woodward also hit a sacrifice fly, Martin had a RBI double, and Santana and McMullen each had RBI singles. Finally, in the fifth, the Astros concluded their scoring after Marte went home on a passed ball and Santana had a two-run double.

After falling into a nine-run deficit, the Braves ended up scoring five runs over the final 4.5 innings of the game. However, they were almost single-handedly carried by Jordan Edgerton. On the night, Edgerton went three-for-five with three doubles and four RBI.

The winning pitcher for the Astros was right-hander Aaron Greenwood, who was making his professional debut. The Ole Miss product and 2014 draft pick of the Houston Astros had just joined the club the day before, and in two innings of relief, he gave up one hit and picked up two strikeouts.

Lefty Reymin Guduan, who started the game for Greeneville, pitched four scoreless innings and allowed four hits while striking out four and walking one.

The Astros remain in Danville for game two of their three-game series with the Braves on Thursday.
