Greeneville Astros News Release

GREENEVILLE, TN - On Tuesday, August 10th, as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Night presented by Takoma Regional Hospital, the Greeneville Astros will trade in their customary home pinstripe jerseys for special-order bright pink jerseys to raise money and awareness for breast cancer.

The game-worn pink jerseys, which have a pink ribbon on the left sleeve and a Takoma Regional Hospital patch on the right sleeve, will be available for purchase through a silent auction during the game. Proceeds from the sale of these jerseys will go towards breast cancer services, research and early detection.

It's all about raising as much money and awareness as possible for the fight, and fans can get a unique piece of memorabilia for their contribution. For every fan that comes away with one of the jerseys, the message goes on and on with every person who sees it displayed.

"The Greeneville Astros are proud to partner with Takoma Regional Hospital to help raise awareness and funds for a disease that affects so many women and their families," said Astros general manager David Lane. "It's important to us to give back to our community and to support this cause."

The American Cancer Society (ACS) estimates that there are more than 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the United States today. The organization recommends women over the age of 40 have an annual mammogram, as early detection increases the chances of beating the disease.

Tickets for the game against the Elizabethton Twins are available now at the Astros Ticket Office and on www.greenevilleastros.com. Game time is scheduled for 7:00pm. Gates will open at 6:00pm.
