Greeneville Astros News Release
GREENEVILLE, TN - The Greeneville Astros and Greeneville Marketplace are hosting "Christmas in July" to benefit tornado victims through the Gifts for Kids program of Greene County on Saturday, July 16th at Pioneer Park.
During the Astros home game against the Elizabethton Twins, the Gifts for Kids program will be accepting new or gently-used toys and books for families affected by the recent tornadoes in Greene County. Donations of toys and books may be placed in the decorated Gifts for Kids boxes located at Pioneer Park on Saturday.
Fans that donate a gift at the game will receive a raffle ticket and be entered to win prizes including gift cards and Astros memorabilia throughout the night.
Clubhouse Custom Cycles will conclude a motorcycle run to benefit Gifts for Kids on the field at Pioneer Park with the delivery of toys before the game. Meanwhile, the U.S. Marine Corps from Johnson City will present the Colors during the National Anthem.
Immediately following the game, the newly donated toys and books will be presented to the affected families on the field with the help of the Astros mascot, who will be dressed as "Santa Tex" for the special occasion.
Children, along with the first 15 adults, of affected families will receive free admission to the game upon presenting their FEMA number at the box office. After that, affected adults will receive discounted $3 tickets. If you are a family who has been affected and would like to participate, please contact Jancie Painter at (423)787-5679.
