Pulaski River Turtles News Release
Greeneville's pitching staff combined to throw a four-hitter and defeated Pulaski 5-1 Wednesday night. Astros' reliever Angelo Serrano picked up the win pitching for three innings allowing one hit and one walk while striking out six. The loss puts Pulaski at 9-10 overall. Yankees' starter Nick Nelson was tagged with the loss to move to 0-2 on the season. He pitched for 2 and 2/3 innings allowing two runs on four hits while walking one and striking out three. The teams do battle again tonight at Pioneer Park at 7 p.m.
Greeneville got out to an early lead by scoring in the first. Bryan De La Cruz walked and then scored on an RBI double from Gabriel Bracamonte. In the third, Migualangel Sierra hopped aboard with a bunt, moved to third on a single from De La Cruz, and scored on a passed ball to make it 2-0. In the fourth, Marcus Almonte singled up the middle, moved to second on a wild pitch, stole third, and scored on a passed ball. The final two Astros runs came in the seventh. Sierra walked, moved to second on a wild pitch, and scored on a triple from De La Cruz. He would score on yet another wild pitch to make it 5-0.
It looked like the Yankees would be shut out but in the eighth Josh Gardiner got things started with a single to left field. One batter later, Dermis Garcia ripped a shot down the third base line that scored Gardiner and put Garcia on second. However, that would be the only Pulaski run to come across the board. The team stranded nine baserunners before the night was over. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
