October 2, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Question from Ryan, Baltimore (and others): "Are you going to add any more teams? It seems like just when you have them done, you add another team."
Answer: Ryan and others: Thanks for the emails. It is confusing, isn't it. We are in the very fortunate position of having so many great owners wanting to do ABA teams. We have already taken over 20 market reservations for 2007. But, when we think that a new team will enhance our divisional play and make the league stronger, we do bend our rules a bit to accommodate them - thus the new teams.
And, please note that we've subtracted a few teams too that weren't ready to play this season or couldn't meet league standards and requirements - and put some of them into 2007. Our goal is to have a great season with every team starting and completing the season and doing it professionally. Top quality, exciting, fast-paced basketball and entertainment at affordable prices, that's the ABA. If you have a question, please email joenewman@abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
