(Danbury, Connecticut) Strong offensive efforts help the A's string together their third win in a row Friday night in Danbury against the Whalers in Federal Hockey League Action.

After over an hour delay of game, the first period saw a frenzy of action as the A's tossed a total sixteen shots at Whalers' netminder Peter Skoggard. Skoggard turned away all but one as Steve Obelnicki put the A's on the board with his second goal of the season at 17:28 with assists from Angelo Serse and Casey Mignone. The Aviators' defense stood strong and kept the puck away from the Whalers for much of the first frame, only allowing nine shots on goal. The second stanza was witness much more action. A total of six penalties were assessed in comparison to none in the first period. As a result, Danbury tied the match 1-1 with a goal from Igor Karlov on the powerplay at 17:02. Soon after, the Whalers were on the man-advantage again when Andrew Scampoli broke up a pass and skated down to add an unassisted short-handed goal for the Aviators giving his team the lead again, 2-1. Aviators' Captain, K.C. Timmons, added another tally for the A's with a powerplay goal at 12:22 in the final period with the help of Michael Thomson and Ivo Mocek. This goal would prove to be the final of the game leaving the score 3-1 in favor of the Aviators.

Although Whalers' netminder Skoggard fought off nearly 50 Aviator tries, he is given the loss. Kevin Druce rejected 24 shots for the Aviators and picks up his eleventh win.

With this win, the Aviators improve to 14-12-2 on the season and hand Danbury only their third loss on home ice this season.

The A's will return to action on Saturday, January 15 as they welcome the 1000 Islands Privateers to the Aviator Sports and Events Center in Brooklyn. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.newyorkaviators.com or by calling 718 758 7580!
