A's Triumph Over Whalers for 16th Win in a Row; Final score 5-1

Danbury, Connecticut -- The Aviators took to the road Saturday night in search of their sixteenth win in a row as they took on the Whalers at the Danbury Ice Arena. After an intense matchup, the A's came out victorious with a final score of 5-1 in Federal Hockey League Action. The Aviators struck first with a powerplay goal from Michael Thomson at 7:47. A few minutes later, Chris Holmes added another to New York's total to give the A's a 2-0 lead heading into the second period. With his first goal in an Aviators' jersey, Brett Dickinson increased New York's lead to 3-0 at 2:26 in the second. However, Danbury finally got a shot past A's netminder Kevin Druce with a goal from Alex Kirschner to put the match at 3-1 at the end of the middle stanza. Kevin Druce remained solid in the third period, not allowing any shots to creap over the line. Jesse Felten proved to be the star of the final period as he collected two powerplay goals for the A's which would eventually put the cap on the night. The Aviators collected their sixteenth win in a row by a final score of 5-1. Kevin Druce receives the win with 37 saves on the night. Nick Niedert is given the loss although he stopped 29 of the Aviators' chances. The two teams will meet again tomorrow evening at 5:05 at Danbury Ice Arena.
