A's Take Care of Business out East, Beat the Cape Breton

ORANGEVILLE, ON - On this Sunday, April 2, 2017 the Orangeville A's (11-19) continued their Atlantic tour against the Cape Breton Highlanders (9-19) after losing a close one to the Island Storm (12-17) on Friday, March 31st. The A's started the game hot offensively and took an early 11-3 lead by the 8:46 mark of the first through balanced scoring from the starters. The A's were able to maintain a comfortable lead of 10 points for the majority of the quarter until the Highlanders responded with a 6-1 run in the last 2 minutes to make the lead 33-24 for the A's. Rick Bodiford had a great quarter with 8 points while Stefan Nastic contributed 5. Booker Woodbox led scoring for the Highlanders with 6 points.

Stefan Nastic poured in a game-high 28 points and added a game-high 9 rebounds

The Cape Breton Highlanders came out firing in the second quarter and quickly closed the margin to a two possession game at 33-29. The A's, however, were able to respond through the great play of their bench, especially Enrico DiLoreto who contributed 10 points by the end of the frame. With accurate defensive placements, the A's were able to limit any second chance points for the Highlanders and controlled the boards. The Highlanders' floor general, Chad Frazier continued his tough play racking up seven assists and 9 points in the frame. The score at halftime was 61-55 for the A's. (Enrico DiLoreto final: 17 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists)

The third quarter began with an exchange of baskets with both teams fighting to establish a lead. By the 7:12 mark it was still only a one possession game at 69-67. Foul trouble for Cape Breton placed A's players Jameson Tipping, Thomas Corbin and Stefan Nastic at the line which helped build a cushion at 79-72. The A's continued to focus their offence through Nastic as he totalled 10 points in the quarter, maintained control of the boards, continued to play tough on defence. Heading into the fourth the A's had a 10 point lead, 91-81. By this point Chadrack Lufile led Highlander scoring with 14 points. (Jameson Tipping final: 14 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, Corbin Thomas final: 11 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist)

The A's continued their balanced scoring into the fourth through the efforts of Enrico DiLoreto, Jameson Tipping and Alex Johnson to maintain the lead. For the Highlanders, Chad Frazier and Chadrick Lufile led the charge to try to keep Cape Breton in the game. The offensive consistency of the A's proved to be too much for Cape Breton to overcome as the Orangeville A's maintained the lead to win with a final score of 129-111. The A's bench contributed a huge 63 points in the affair over the Highlanders' 41 from their bench. With active hands on defence the A's also managed 13 steals to the Highlanders' 3 while scoring 64 points in the paint. Chad Frazier finished with an impressive double-double of 15 points, 12 assists and Chadrick Lufile had 19 points, 7 rebounds and 1 assist for Cape Breton as well. Stefan Nastic led all Orangeville scoring with a whopping 28 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and Rick Bodiford contributed another 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. In the end seven A's players finished in double-digits.
