Brooklyn Aviators News Release

Brooklyn, NY - The New York Aviators skated to their 12th straight victory behind a four point performance from John Goffredo, as the A's defeated the Cape Cod Barons 5-2 on Thursday night in Federal Hockey League action.

With the win, the A's extended their league best home winnings streak to 11 games, and now have 17 victories on home ice.

New York registered the game's first tally in the opening frame, after Goffredo deposited the loose puck in the net for his 18th goal of the season. His quick shot from the slot found the five-hole of Barons' net minder Chris Testa, and gave the A's the 1-0 lead at the 15:21 mark.

The penalty kill stayed strong for New York in the first period, as they killed two power- play chances for Cape Cod.

In the second period, the A's erupted for three goals to take a 4-0 lead into the second intermission. Jesse Felten started the offensive charge with his 15th marker of the year just 1:32 in, which came on the power play. With 7:40 remaining in the middle stanza, Andrew Scampoli gave the Aviators a three-goal edge. His one timer beat Testa short side from the slot for his 23rd goal on the campaign.

Goffredo capped the period off with a quick snap shot that got over the left shoulder of the Barons' goalie for his second goal of the game at 13:09.

The Barons cut the lead to half in the third, however it was a little too late as the A's held on for the victory to move their record to 23-12-2 on the season.

New York net minder Kevin Druce wins his 10th straight game stopping 23 shots to see his record jump to 18-8-2 on the year. Testa is nabbed with his eighth loss while stopping 28 shots.

The Aviators stay on home ice, and take on the Rome Frenzy this Friday night at 7:05PM. Catch all the action live from the Aviator Sports and Events Center on the A's radio network with broadcasters Carmine Vetrano and Grant Tunkel.
