A's Advance to Division Finals for the First Time
March 21, 2015 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Orangeville A's News Release
BRAMPTON, On. - For the first time in franchise history, the Brampton A's have advanced to the NBL Canada's Central Division Finals. Brampton defeated the London Lightning 102-92 in game five of the first playoff series Saturday night.
Things got testy early on between the two teams, as a player from both squads was ejected from the game following an altercation. After regaining their composure, the A's went on to control the half on both ends of the floor. The A's held London to 28 percent shooting from the field for the first stint and outrebounded the Lightning 37-23.
Akeem Scott and Kyle Johnson led the A's with 11 points apiece heading into the locker room at the half.
London gained momentum during the second half and got within four points of the A's double digit lead. Brampton continued to attack the basket and converted at the free throw line when it mattered most. The A's never trailed and stuck to its paint dominance consistently.
K. Johnson led all scorers with 28 points, while Akeem Ellis added 20 points and 13 rebounds.
The A's will now take on the Windsor Express in the Division Finals. Action begins next Thursday and Saturday in Windsor. A live stream of the action will be available via www.bramptonas.ca. For ticket inquiries contact tickets@bramptonas.ca.
