Toronto Arrows News Release
TORONTO, ON - The Toronto Arrows are pleased to announce that three club players have joined Scotland's Melrose Rugby Club on developmental loans.
Props Connor Grindal and Guerschom Mukendi, as well as outside back Oliver Mackenzie, will spend the initial stages of the 2023-2024 Scottish National League 1 season with the Arrows' partner club.
"We're excited for this opportunity for Connor, Guerschom and Oliver," said Tim Matthews, Toronto Arrows Vice President and General Manager. "The standard of rugby in Scotland is high, and our partners at Melrose provide a fantastic environment for development. We will follow our players' progression closely and at the end of the year we anticipate they will have taken big steps."
Grindal is coming off his first season as a member of the Arrows Senior Team, which saw the domestic prop feature in seven matches.
Mukendi, a two-time member of Canada's World Rugby Junior World Trophy squad (2018, 2019), is a graduate of the Arrows Senior Academy, while Mackenzie, a Pacific Pride graduate, spent time training with the Arrows Senior Team in 2023 as a High Performance Academy athlete.
This marks the second year that the Arrows have seen members of their Canadian ranks continue their development with Melrose, with James O'Neill and Mitch Richardson both enjoying stints with the Scottish club in autumn 2022.
