Toronto Arrows News Release

TORONTO, ON - The Toronto Arrows are pleased to announce that centre Liam Bowman has re-signed with the club for the 2024 Major League Rugby season.

Bowman, 21, is back with the Arrows for his sophomore campaign after featuring in five matches (three starts) across his first MLR season.

The six-foot-one, 210-pound back earned 269 carry metres on 21 carries, 32 tackles, three defenders beaten, two linebreaks, and two offloads throughout his first professional season in North America. He also added two tries, including a memorable late-game tally that was scored just minutes into his debut.

"I'm really excited about rejoining the Arrows for this season and putting in the work to make a strong push to bring the Shield north," said Bowman.

Bowman arrived at the club late in the 2023 season following two years of development within French side Montauban's espoirs program.

The midfielder represented Canada at the 2022 World Rugby Under-20 Canada Conference tournament, serving as team captain. He was also selected to the national under-20 program's touring side in 2020.

Bowman previously donned the Maple Leaf with the national under-18 program - a side he also captained - in 2019. Later that year, he participated in the World School Sevens competition in New Zealand with the Canadian Misfits team.

Prior to departing for France, Bowman spent a year with Rugby Canada's Pacific Pride national development program.

"When Liam arrived home and joined us at the tail end of the 2023 season, despite being one of the youngest players in Major League Rugby, he jumped in head-first and demonstrated he could handle the rigours of the league," said Tim Matthews, Toronto Arrows Vice President and General Manager. "He's an exciting Canadian talent that is hungry to learn and take his game to the next level, and he'll bring a lot to our back line this upcoming year."

The Oakville, Ont. native played his grassroots rugby with his local Oakville Crusaders.

The club will be making additional signing announcements in the coming weeks as 2024 season preparations continue to build.
