BALTIMORE - The Chicago Storm's Stephen Armstrong notched a hat trick, including his league-leading seventh and eighth three-pointers Friday. But his eight-point effort was not enough as the Storm fell to the Baltimore Blast, 18-8, on Friday at 1st Mariner Arena in Major Indoor Soccer League action. Armstrong has 36 points this season.

Former Blast player and current Storm forward Carlos "Chile" Farias assisted Armstrong's first goal, which came at the 12:33 mark of the first quarter. Armstrong's first three-point goal came 27 seconds into the second quarter. His second three-pointer came toward the end of the fourth quarter.

Next up for the Storm (11-7) is a 7 p.m. match Saturday against the expansion New Jersey Ironmen at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill.

On Friday, the Storm dug themselves in a hole early, 6-0, when the Blast (10-7) scored three goals in the first 4:41 of the match. Giuliano Celenza scored two of them, giving him five goals on the season. Adauto Neto had the game's first goal at the 1:35 mark of the first quarter.

Denison Cabral hit a three-point goal 2 1/2 half minutes after Armstrong's first three-pointer to give the Blast a 9-5 lead. Cabral netted his second goal of the game in the third quarter for an 11-5 lead. A couple minutes later, the Blast padded their lead with a Lucio Gonzaga goal for a 13-5 advantage late in the third.

With the Storm going with Armstrong as the sixth attacker, and Baltimore's Carlos Garcia called for a penalty, the Blast gave themselves a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter. Mike Lookingland notched a three-point, short-handed goal to give the Blast a 16-5 advantage. Baltimore's Robbie Aristodemo would add a two-pointer for an 18-5 lead.

Storm goalkeeper Jeff Richey made 12 saves while the Blast's Sagu needed to make only five saves for the victory.

Baltimore improved to 8-2 at 1st Mariner Arena, while Chicago dropped its second straight road match to fall to 5-3 away from the Sears Centre.
