AFL I Arena Football League (1987-2008)

Arena Football League lands on FSN

February 28, 2007 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release

NEW YORK - Fox Sports Networks and the Arena Football League have renewed their agreement to carry regular-season games on 12 of FSN's owned and affiliated regional sports networks, it was announced today. Most FSN regional telecasts will take place on Fridays and Saturdays and are in addition to the AFL's exclusive national agreement with ESPN.

"Our goal is to be the most fan-friendly league in the world, and continuing the relationship with FSN helps further that goal," said MARC LOWITZ, President, AFL Network. "FSN allows us to bring a strong package of games to the teams' regions and is the perfect compliment to the national package with ESPN rounding out the most comprehensive multi-media package in the history of the AFL."

One of the fastest growing and most exciting sports in America, the AFL has 19 teams in markets from coast to coast, with the majority of them located in markets serviced by a Fox or Rainbow-owned regional sports network, making the AFL a natural local programming addition. FSN will carry more than 75 telecasts this season.

Added Randy Freer, President of FSN Networks: "We're pleased to have renewed our rights agreement with the AFL. It's an opportunity to offer FSN viewers local programming, while also serving AFL fans with a broad package of local games."

The first FSN game is scheduled for Saturday, March 3 between the Georgia Force and Arizona Rattlers on FSN Sports South and FSN Arizona (tape-delay). The Austin Wranglers lead all teams with nine games on FSN Southwest, followed by the Los Angeles Avengers with seven games on FSN West and Prime Ticket. The complete FSN regional schedule is attached.
