Everett AquaSox News Release
Spokane, WA: AquaSox starting pitcher Ryan Hawks (3-2) went seven shutout innings in a 1-0 win over the Spokane Indians at Avista Stadium before a crowd of 2,488.
Hawks, the Seattle Mariners' eighth-round draft choice in 2023 out of Louisville, baffled Spokane hitters in his finest outing as a pro. He allowed just two hits and walked none while striking out five. It was also his second win of the season over the first-place Indians who are the top offense in the Northwest League.
In three starts against Spokane at Avista Stadium this season, Hawks is 2-0 with a 2.12 ERA with 12 strikeouts in 17 innings.
The only run of the game came when Everett's Caleb Cali led off the top of the fifth and sent the first pitch by Sean Sullivan (2-2) over the left field wall for his second High-A homerun.
Cali's long ball was the only blemish on Sullivan's record as he turned in the first complete game in the Northwest League this season. Sullivan allowed five hits, one run, walked one, and struck out seven while throwing 96 pitches.
Chris Jefferson worked a scoreless eighth inning for the AquaSox and struck out two. Jason Ruffcorn came on in the ninth to earn his first save.
Brock Rodden singled in the fourth inning to extend his hitting streak to eight games.
The game was completed in an hour and 52 minutes.
LOOKING AHEAD: The AquaSox return home to the friendly confines of Funko Field on June 4 for a six-game series against the Vancouver Canadians. June 4 is Sam's Cats and Dogs Bark at the Park Night, so be sure to bring your furry friends out to the game to celebrate!
