Tupelo FireAnts News Release
The Tupelo FireAnts (1-5) travel deep to the heart of Texas this Saturday night to jam with the Austin Rockers (3-3). The Tupelo FireAnts dropped an earlier game versus the Rockers by a score of 42-27. The âAnts offense has struggled all season long, but a visit to Austin just might be the answer as Austin has allowed the second most points in the Atlantic Conference, including allowing an NIFL season-high 91 points to the Utah Warriors last Saturday night.
Tupelo will be lead offensively by running back Allen Copeland, who has tallied four touchdowns in his first two full games with the âAnts, and wideout Darryl Carter, who has amassed 16 receptions for 166 yards and five touchdowns. Defensively, Eric Bingham leads the charge with a team-high 39 tackles and Ricky Franklin, who has a combined 22.5 tackles, including 7 for a loss, in only 3 games played this season. Bobby "The Ant" Hill will be starring on special teams as he will try to add to his three kickoff returns for touchdowns thus far this season.
Austin will be lead by running back Shon Mitchell, the University of Texas Longhorn, who has rushed for well over 300 yards and scored 13 touchdowns on the ground. Defensively, the Rockers feature defensive backs Corey Mathis and Chris Jackson.
