
'Ants Get Ready for Freedom on Saturday

Tupelo, MS--The Tupelo FireAnts return to home turf this Saturday as the Fort Wayne Freedom visit the BancorpSouth Center starting at 7:05pm.
The Tupelo FireAnts come into this week's game in fourth place in the Atlantic conference with an overall record of 7-4, and a 5-1 mark at home. The FireAnts are on a one-game winning streak after defeating the Evansville BlueCats by a score of 53-45 last Saturday night in Evansville, Indiana. The FireAnts have scored a league-high 59 points per game, while allowing 49. Tupelo is averaging a league-high 111 yards on the ground per game, with 152 through the air for a total of 263 yards of offense per game. Tupelo's defense has allowed 75 yards rushing per game, and an average of 187 yards passing for a total of 262 yards of offense allowed per game, with a total of 18 sacks, 6 fumble recoveries, and 20 interceptions. For the season, the FireAnts have been penalized an average of 6 times for 35 yards per game.
The Fort Wayne Freedom come into this week's game in eighth place in the Atlantic Conference with an overall record of 6-6, including a 1-5 record on the road. The Freedom are on a two-game losing streak after dropping a 41-27 decision against the Atlantic City CardSharks last Saturday night at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The Freedom have scored 49 points per game, while allowing 43. Fort Wayne is averaging 89 yards on the ground per game, with 145 through the air for a total of 234 yards of offense per game. The Freedom defense has allowed only 57 yards rushing per game, and an average of 166 yards passing for a total of 223 yards of offense allowed per game, with a total of 16 sacks, 6 fumble recoveries, and 19 interceptions. The FireAnts are looking to make a run at the NIFL playoffs. The FireAnts are currently in fourth place in the Atlantic Conference standings. The top six teams in the conference advance into the playoffs.
Saturday's game kicks off at 7:05pm at the BancorpSouth Center. This is an added game to the 2004 home schedule. All season ticket holders will receive this game free of charge. Season tickets will be available at the FireAnts Office after 2:00pm today through Friday, and can also be picked up at the Will-Call Window before the game Saturday night.
