Edmonton Capitals News Release

Edmonton, AB - The Edmonton Capitals are one step closer to finding their primary Anthem Singer for the 2010 season. Hundreds of shoppers and anthem singer hopefuls were on hand at Kingsway Mall for the Second Annual Edmonton Capitals Anthem Singer Search presented by Kingsway Mall and 91.7 The Bounce. 37 contestants gave their best rendition of Oh Canada in front of the warm and supportive audience. At one point, a contestant was so shy that the entire crowd joined in to make sure she felt comfortable enough to participate.

The guest panel of celebrity judges included Edmonton Oilers Anthem Singer Paul Lorieau along with Jake Ryan from the Bounce and John Chwyl from Kingsway Mall. They narrowed down the field to the top five who will be invited back to the final Thursday, May 27 at TELUS Field. Advancing singers include Rochelle Diedrich, Jessica Dixon, Amna Haque, Nakita Kohan, and Tom McPheson.

The ultimate winner will become the Edmonton Capitals primary Anthem Singer for the 2010 season plus they will receive a pass straight to the final of the Bounce Showdown coming up in June.

The Edmonton Capitals 2010 season is presented by Canadian Tire. The Caps Home Opener is set for Tuesday June 1 against Maui Na Koa Ikaika - the Warriors. Season seats are on sale now starting at under $10 per seat. Retail tickets for all 45 home games are on sale now at any Ticketmaster outlet, at the TELUS Field Box Office, by calling (780) 414-GOAL (4625) or online at capsbaseball.ca.
