Tucson, AZ - The Tucson Toros defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks Extended Spring Training squad 5-4 on Saturday, thanks in part to four scoreless innings from Righthander Albie Lopez.

Lopez made his final pre-season appearance in preparation to start the Toros' second game of the regular season in front of a Thirsty Thursday crowd on May 20th. Albie struck out the side in the 3rd inning en route to a five punchout performance, allowing just five hits without walking a batter.

Second Baseman Jose Valdez, donning his new uniform number 99, went 2-for-2 with a double, walk and a two runs scored before being substituted for a defensive replacement. Rightfielder Victor Ferrante did some major damage out of the cleanup spot, driving in three of the Toros five runs with three hits, including a double.

Anthony Moreno earned the pre-season win with a 1-2-3 8th inning in which Diamonbacks failed to get the ball out of the infield. Youngster Andrew Snowdon locked down the save with a scoreless 9th inning to preserve the 1-run lead.

The Toros will open the 2010 regular season in defense of their Southern Division title at home on Wednesday, May 19th when they take on the Edmonton Capitals at Hi Corbett Field at 7:00 p.m.
