Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release

Miami, FL- Miami FC fell to Rochester Rhinos 5-4 on a game full of emotions at PAETEC Park on Friday night.

In front of over 10,000 spectators, Miami FC just fell short of coming away with a point from one of the USL's First Division toughest venues.

The first half ended with Miami on top. Brazilian midfielder Zinho scored his first goal of the season at the 31st minute of play.

The second half would give the fans a treat, as eight goals were scored. The Rhinos quickly turned things around as they scored 3 goals in 13 minutes. The first came off the foot of their leading scorer, Mathew Delicate, who converted his 6th goal of the season at the 46th minute. Connally Edozien gave the Rhinos their first lead of the game, and Greg Howes put the Rhinos up by two goals, in the 58th minute.

Although they were down by 2 goals, Miami FC was able to overcome the deficit. Guatemalan international, Mario Rodriguez scored twice in two minutes to tie things up. Nonetheless, Edozien scored one more time for the home side in the 75th minute to give Rochester the lead back.

In the 90th minute, Rodriguez was taken down inside the box and the referee awarded Miami FC a penalty shot. Romario scored his 10th goal of the season on the penalty and gave Miami what appeared to be the decisive 4-4. But in stoppage time, defender Eddie Lewis converted the game winner for the Rhinos and gave the South Floridians a tough loss to swallow, as "Loco" Rodriguez said after the match; "it's tough to lose this way because the team showed a lot of heart."
