~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Week Thirteen Highlight
Conor O'Brien and Laura Palumbo named Super Y-League players of the week
Mid Atlantic FC Westchester came back from a 2-0 deficit to solidify, but not officially clinch, a berth in the 2006 North American Finals in the U13 boys' division.
"We had the majority of the play from the start but Hockessin was well organized in the back and got us twice on a counter attack," said Westchester U13 boys' coach Niall Archbold.  "Ryan McNamara put us back in it late in the first with a well placed shot from about 25 yards out. Then midway through the second half Kyle Bardswell found Juan Chang with a through ball to even the score at 2- 2."
"The Super-Y League has been our concentration this season," added Archbold. "I'm glad it has worked for us. I love the professionalism of the league, how its goal is to build the club system all the way through first division professional soccer. U.S. soccer needs to start treating the Super Y- League as the real McCoy and not a summer league. All the best teams, the best facilities, the best youth coaches should be involved in what USL is trying to do. It's the way of the top clubs in Europe. I care very little for the politics of soccer. They need to give way to what is best for player development. I care about the kids and that's it."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Letters From Germany

Super Y-League Select Team Manager Brian Klein and 1990 defender Luis Rocha

The team went on a tour of the Commerce Stadium. Five World Cup games were played there, including Argentina- Holland, England-Paraguay, and the historical France- Brazil showdown.

The Stadium is the third built on this site dating back to 1925. The second version was built for the 1974 World Cup, and the present version was built for the 2006 World Cup. It is one of four stadiums in Europe with a 3,000 ton retractable roof.  The roof folds like a tent into a large box that hangs in the middle of the stadium. It seats 63,000 fans and can also used for concerts, conventions, trade fairs and parties. It has 80 VIP suites and a club section. The boys were most impressed by the dressing room, which had 12 individual hot tubs. The media room and the jail under the stadium were also favorites of the team.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ D.C. United Downs Rage
Fabian Simbana may be future MLS reserve player
"The Super-20 division is a great fit with D.C. United," said D.C. United Super-20 Coach Gene Mishalow. "I see USL Premier Development League teams like the Rage using this division as a reserve league. It's along the same process for us here - just with a few additional steps."
"Our ultimate goal is to get one of our boys signed to a reserve team contact," added Mishalow. "Our Super-20 team play matches with the pro side's reserve squad. They get great exposure with the MLS club.  Ultimately, want to see our impact with the pro team on the level of a signing. Simbana has the talent to make it at that level and may be our breakthrough player."
"The Super-20 division is a great fit with D.C. United," said Mishalow. "I see USL Premier Development League teams like the Rage using this division as a reserve league. It's along the same process for us here - just with a few additional steps."
