Dayton Silverbacks News Release
(Troy, OH) The Miami Valley Silverbacks professional indoor football team has added former Wittenberg University All-American center Tim Funke to the 2007 roster.
Funke, played a pivotal role in Wittenberg's greatly successful season in 2006. He joins the Silverbacks with fellow Tiger All-American Tristan Murray.
In 2006, Funk was named Third-team All-North Region from d3football.com, Second-team All-North Region from Don Hansen's Football Gazette, and Honorable Mention All-America from Don Hansen's Football Gazette.
"Tim will sure up the weak point that we were concerned about," stated Silverbacks Head Coach & General Manager Matthew King. "His chemistry with Tristan Murray is also a bonus. Tristan had a great college career, and Tim was a part of Tristan's success at Wittenberg. We were looking to solidify a spot on the offensive line, and it is a natural fit to bring Tim on board. He's an extremely smart and tough guy. We believe that we will help us excel this season."
The Silverbacks, a member of the Continental Indoor Football League, are gearing up for their 2007 home opener against the Chicago Slaughter on March 30th at Rapid Fire Field at Hobart Arena. Silverbacks' tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at Hobart Arena, online at www.silverbacksfootball.com, or by calling (937) 339-2911.
