
Annual "Jacks Fight Cancer" Game Results in Immense Support and Funding

MUSKEGON, Michigan (April 17th) - The Muskegon Lumberjacks are elated to announce that the Muskegon Lumberjacks Charitable Foundation was able to raise $4,714.08 from our annual "Jacks Fight Cancer" Game presented by Mercy Health that was played on Saturday, January 25th against the USNTDP Under-18 Team to go towards funding for cancer research at the Johnson Family Cancer Center in Muskegon. During the Friday, March 28th game against the Omaha Lancers, a check for the mentioned amount was presented to Dr. Nina Johnson in a special on-ice check presentation during the second intermission.
The proceeds during the event were accumulated in numerous ways that included fans filling out purple ribbon care cards, purchasing a limited-edition "Jacks Fight Cancer" lavender t-shirt, having a Lumberjack play in memory of or in honor of a loved one, or having their loved one recognized in a special lavender program insert. In addition, the game-worn lavender "Jacks Fight Cancer" player jerseys were auctioned off following the game.
"Over the course of the past four seasons, our annual "ËJacks Fight Cancer' Game has turned into a remarkable night for our community, fans, and organization. We've all been touched my cancer in some way, shape or form, and this evening gives us an opportunity to come together as one," said Lumberjacks Community Relations Director Andrea Clancy. "I'm very proud of our Jacks' family, friends, and fans for pulling together and showing such a great deal of support for the Johnson Family Cancer Center."
On Thursday, March 20th, Scott Pooley, Matt Mendelson, Matej Paulovic, and Cullen Hurley had the chance to visit the Johnson Family Cancer Center where they delivered a special banner for their facility that was signed by the entire Lumberjacks organization along with the numerous fans that were in attendance. Also, the players had the chance to take a tour of the building that was led by Angela Shepherd, the Clinic and Medical Records Supervisor for the Johnson Family Cancer Center.
