Announcing the Chicago Magic's new Academy Director

ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS, July 20, 2009 ... The Chicago Magic, a Rampage Futbol LLC company, today announced the appointment of Raul Ignacio Diaz Arce as the new Director of the Chicago Magic Youth Soccer Academy based in Frankfort, Illinois.

Arce, a prolific goal scorer during his professional career in El Salvador, Guatemala and the United States joins the Chicago Magic after serving as the United States' U17 Men's National Team Assistant Coach, a USSDA Select Team Coach, a National Team Scout, and the Development Academy Technical Advisor (USSF) since 2007. During his time with the USSF, the Academy program improved the training environment, provided relevant, higher level matches on a consistent basic, increased the level of scouting efficiency for national teams and provided players, coaches and referees with structured programming. Prior to serving on the US National Team coaching staff, Arce contributed to a wealth of team Championships while also earning individual scoring Champion titles in both El Salvador and the United States in the MLS (Major League Soccer) while playing for DC United.

The native of El Salvador began his soccer career at an early age and competed on his country's U17, U20 and U21 Olympic teams as well as on the country's full National team from 1991-2001 with three of those National teams qualifying to go on to World Cup competition.

Professionally, Arce won a Championship with First Division CD Dragon (El Salvador), two Championships with First Division CD Luis Angel Firpo (El Salvador) and two Championships with the MLS DC United. Additionally he captured two scoring Championship awards with CD Dragon, three with CD Luis Angel Firpo and was the second leading scorer two years in a row while playing for DC United. He earned a MLS All-Star nod three times and helped DC United capture an Open Cup Championship as well.

"We chose Raul because not only does he have an exceptional reputation as a player and a coach, but he is also dedicated to the development of players and is committed to ensuring that each young player has an opportunity to reach their maximum playing potential.

Raul Diaz Arce officially joins the Chicago Magic at the end of July when his US National Team obligations are fulfilled. The Chicago Magic was acquired by Rampage Futbol LLC earlier in the summer for an undisclosed sum.
