Omaha Lancers News Release

RALSTON, NE - In front a sellout crowd of 3,727 fans, the Omaha Lancers took advantage of an early lead and defeated the Sioux City Musketeers by a final score of 3-1 on Friday at Ralston Arena. With the win, the Lancers improved to 27-7-4 overall this season and with 58 points, remain alone atop the Western Conference and overall USHL standings.

After successfully navigating back-to-back-to-back penalty kills in the first ten minutes of the game, the Lancers drew first blood on the scoreboard at 11:48 when Anthony Angello fought through a bevy of net-mouth traffic to collect his fifth goal of the season on the power-play with Tucker Poolman and Tyler Vesel collecting assists on the play. Late in the period, Angello doubled the Lancer lead to 2-0 when he parlayed a big rebound off a Jake Henderson transition shot at 18:03 for his second score of the game thanks to a great setup by Nash Worden.

In the middle frame, Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson picked up right where the Lancers left off, knifing home a rebound from the high slot just over one minute into the period to push the Lancer lead to 3-0 with fellow Swede Niklas Folin collecting an assist on the play. Sioux City's lone goal came courtesy of Waltteri Hoponen at 11:22 of the third, but a near-perfect 32-save performance from Hayden Hawkey in the Omaha net delivered the Lancers the victory by a 3-0 final score.

Next up for the Lancers, it's a Saturday tilt vs. the defending Anderson and Clark Cup champion Dubuque Fighting Saints on "Girl Scout Night" at Ralston Arena, presented by ConAgra Foods. Full coverage of Saturday's game begins with the "Valpak Pregame Show" at 7:20 pm on the Lancers' flagship station, "The Mighty" 1290 KOIL with Lancers broadcaster Tony Brown providing the play-by-play.

In 2013-14, the five-time Anderson Cup and seven-time Clark Cup Champion Omaha Lancers drop the puck on their 28th season in the USHL.
