Anaheim Storm News Release

Anaheim, CA (January 18, 2004) - The Anaheim Storm fell 12-16, to the Buffalo Bandits in Anaheim's second game of the 2003-04 season. The Arrowhead Pond had a crowd of 4,102 for the night.

The Anaheim Storm (0-2) were led by Scott Stewart (3G, 2A) who started the game with a goal just over five minutes into the first quarter. At the half, the score was tied 9-9 and again, the Anaheim Storm started the scoring with a goal by Casey Powell (1G, 3A) two minutes into the second half.

"What hurt us tonight was the inability to turn the Power Plays into scoring opportunities. That made a big difference in the outcome of the game," said Storm Head Coach Peter Vipond.

The Storm scored only two goals in a total of 12 Power Plays; the Bandits scored three goals tonight while short-handed.

Bandits Forward John Tavares led Buffalo in the fourth quarter scoring three of his five goals in that quarter including the game winning goal. Tavares finished with a total of six points for the night (5G, 1A).

Other top scorers for the Storm were Chris Panos (2G, 2 A), Chris Seller (2G, 1A) and Michael Law (2G). Cory Leigh and Richard Morgan each had one goal during the game. Goaltender Matt Disher had his first appearance for the Storm and had 44 saves.

The Anaheim Storm face the San Jose Stealth (1-1) for the first time on Sunday, January 25th.
