Amir Johnson named D-League Performer of the Week

Amir Johnson of the Sioux Falls Skyforce is the D-League Performer of the Week for April 2, 2007. This is Johnson's second Performer of the Week honor this season.

Johnson, on assignment from the Detroit Pistons, recorded two double-doubles over the weekend for Sioux Falls. In a loss to Dakota on Friday, Johnson scored a season-high 34 points with 14 rebounds and two blocks. He was also a perfect 14-of-14 from the free-throw line. Johnson returned on Saturday with a monster game to lead the Skyforce to victory over the Colorado 14ers. The second-year pro finished with a statline of 21 points, 17 rebounds, eight assists, seven blocks, and four steals.

For the week Johnson averaged 27.5 points, 15.5 rebounds, 4.5 blocks, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 steals. He shot 19-of-30 from the field and 17-of-18 from the line.

A 6-9 forward, Johnson has played in 19 games, all starts, while on assignment to the Skyforce. He is averaging 19.2 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks with Sioux Falls compiling a record of 16-3 when he is in the lineup. The Pistons selected Johnson in the second round (56th overall) of the 2005 NBA Draft.
