Amey Shines in AFL Debut

MACON, Ga. – Former Macon Knights Wide Receiver/Linebacker, Gabe Amey, recorded a touchdown in his first game with the Carolina Cobras of the Arena Football League.

Amey, who signed during the offseason with the Cobras, started at the WR/LB position in the season opener Friday night. Amey (6-3, 210, Menlo College) finished the game with two catches for 21 yards and a touchdown. On defense, he recorded an interception and 3.5 tackles in the Cobras' loss to the Tampa Bay Storm.

Amey and the Cobras will be back in action this Sunday as they travel to face the Buffalo Destroyers.

Last season, Amey caught 73 passes for 964 yards and 21 touchdowns and recorded 46.5 tackles on defense. In 2001, Amey played in five games for the Knights catching 16 passes for 141 yards and one touchdown. On defense, he recorded 11.5 tackles.
