August 15, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rochester Americans News Release

(Rochester, August 15)... The Rochester Americans selected season ticket holder Peter Borrelli as the latest winner of the golf and dinner package at Brook-Lea Country Club.

Borrelli will join Amerks' all-time leading scorer and General Manager Jody Gage, Director of Communications Craig Rybczynski, and longtime season ticket holder and sponsor Brad Amedeo of Downtown Minuteman Press at Brook-Lea on Thursday, August 21st at 10:00 a.m. Fans can watch footage of the outing the following week on Amerks.com.

The Amerks will select the next pair of winners on Monday, August 18th at 5:00 p.m. The package includes a chance to play the prestigious 18-hole golf course at Brook-Lea Country Club and dinner in the Windsor Room. All you have to do to enter is purchase a season ticket with the Rochester Americans hockey club.

Each week two winners will be drawn to attend the once-in-a-lifetime experience. New season tickets will be entered into the weekly drawings based on when they purchased or renewed their seats. The week begins each Monday and ends on Sunday. Each Monday, winners will be selected in a special random drawing. The winners will have a chance to golf with such celebrities as Amerks Hall of Famer Jody Gage, Amerks and Florida Panthers defenseman Rory Fitzpatrick, Broadcaster Don Stevens, Amerks Owner Curt Styres, members of the Amerks staff or members of the Amerks' Alumni Association.

Current season ticket holders that renewed or purchased tickets after June 24th will also be entered to win. The winners will enjoy a golf outing at Brooke-Lea CC, which was designed by Donald Ross -- who holds an esteemed place in golf history. At the time of his death in 1948, the Boston Herald stated "Golf grew out of his magic ... his fame developed with the game until the tag 'Donald Ross course' attached to a golf links had the connotation of sterling for silver."

Donald Ross was the founder and honorary president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. He was the designer of many of America's most revered courses, which has proven over the test of time as they continue to be honored as sites for golf's major events. The first PGA Championship, first three Ryder Cups and an astounding 34 U.S. Opens, PGA Championships, and Ryder Cups have been held on Donald Ross-designed golf courses.

In Golf Magazine's 1999 listing of the "Top 100 Course in the World" - six are designed by Donald Ross and also ranked in top 35 in the United States - including Pinehurst (NC), Oakland Hills (Mich.), Seminole (Fla.), Inverness and Scioito (Ohio) and of course Oak Hill in Rochester, NY. Locally, in addition to Oak Hill, the Country Club of Rochester, Monroe Country Club and nine-holes of Irondequoit Country Club are Ross-designs. Not only is Brook-Lea on a par with its local links brethren, by comparison, Brook-Lea is by far the most affordable.

After enjoying 18 holes of golf, the winners will enjoy dinner and conversation in the luxurious Windsor Room. The room is highlighted by a horseshoe-shaped bar. It is a "great place to relax after golf or entertain your friends and business acquaintances." The walls are adorned with the original 18 green designs and golf balls from other Donald Ross designed golf courses.

The Amerks will open their 53rd AHL season on Friday, October 10th at 7:35 p.m. against the Syracuse Crunch at The Blue Cross Arena at the Rochester War Memorial.
