(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans mascot, The Moose, will embark on a four-month adventure throughout Rochester as part of his "Moose is on the Loose" Tour. The Amerks' furry friend will make stops each week at local businesses, parks, recreation centers and sporting events as he prepares for the 53rd season of Amerks hockey in 2008-09.

The Moose will begin his preseason tour this Saturday with a visit to the Rochester Rattlers' Major League Lacrosse game at PAETEC Park. The Rattlers take on the New Jersey Pride at 7:30 p.m. The Moose will greet fans and sign autographs. Fans of The Moose can go to Amerks.com to learn about future events.

The Amerks' official website will also run Moose Trivia this summer with selected winners receiving merchandise and tickets.

The Moose was originally imported as a mascot for the Rochester radio station WMJQ from 1979-1981. The big fellow made his first appearance at an Amerks hockey game in 1979. His first full season as the Amerks mascot was 1980-81.

In his career, The Moose has appeared at over 1,000 home games, including 732 in a row. Besides appearing in charity events and visiting American Hockey League and National Hockey League arenas, he has given over one million smiles and countless high fives.

Make sure to keep a look out for information on The Moose's new Kids' Club for the upcoming season, with details to follow at Moose Trax (the Moose's future Internet home).
