Amerks Begin 60th Season Tomorrow Night
October 8, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rochester Americans News Release
(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans' historic 60th season begins Friday, Oct. 9 when the team hosts the Lake Erie Monsters in its Home Opener at The Blue Cross Arena at 7:05 p.m.
The opening night festivities begin with a pregame Happy Hour starting at 5:00 p.m. in the Upper Atrium Bar (Hall of Fame area) and features live music from ZBTB, America's No. 1 Zack Brown Tribute Band. Fans 21 and older can also enjoy Molson and Coors Light drafts for just $2. ZBTB will also perform during the first intermission.
Friday's Home Opener will also feature the first "Mystery Puck" of the season, where a limited number of 60th Anniversary Amerks pucks, signed by various players, will be for sale. Fans in attendance will receive a 2015-16 Amerks magnet schedule courtesy of Perry's Ice Cream, who will be on-site offering ice cream samples to fans. Fans can also get their picture taken in an Interactive Fan Photo Booth set up in the Atrium courtesy of the Democrat and Chronicle Media Group. Zweigle's will be providing a limited number of special product packages for fans as an exit handout following the game in the Lower Atrium.
Prior to the game, there will be special pre-game introductions of this year's team on the ice. Just like they did for the very first game in franchise history (Oct. 14, 1956 vs. Cleveland Barons), the Amerks will be hosting a team from Cleveland to kick-off the 60th anniversary season.
Friday night's game will also mark the first of eight Value Parking Nights in the Civic Center Garage, courtesy of Mapco Auto Parks. Fans can park in the Civic Center Garage on Value Parking Nights for just $6 per vehicle (a savings of $2 off the normal game night price). Other Value Parking Nights this season will be Friday, Nov. 27, Saturday, Dec. 26, Friday, Jan. 8, Friday, Jan. 29, Sunday, Feb. 21, Friday, Mar. 11 and Friday, Apr. 15.
The tunnel connecting the Civic Center Garage and The Blue Cross Arena will be open Friday. Fans should plan on giving themselves extra time to arrive at the game due to ongoing construction in front of the Arena on Exchange Blvd. To help ease congestion gates will open at 5:00 p.m.
In honor of the Amerks 60th anniversary season, the Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County, located in the historic Rundel Memorial Building in downtown Rochester, will light up in red, white and blue in support of the Amerks during the Home Opener. The Central Library, which is located just across the Genesee River from The Blue Cross Arena, is installed with exterior LED lights that illuminate the building and its columns at night.
Zweigle's Family Packs are available for every Amerks Friday and Sunday home game during the 2015-16 season beginning with the home opener. For just $20 per person, fans will receive one Best-Available ticket, one hot dog and one soda, representing a savings of 40%. A minimum of four tickets is required in order to purchase the Family Pack.
Following Saturday's game versus Utica (7:35 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena), Amerks players will be available for a Meet & Greet session with fans in the Hall of Fame area that will last approximately 45 minutes. The Democrat and Chronicle Media Group will provide an Amerks autograph poster for fans.
Amerks 2015-16 Season Ticket Memberships, which start as low as just $8 per game, are now on sale. The Amerks are also offering a variety of partial ticket plans, including Half-Season Memberships and Flex Pack Memberships from six to 40 ticket vouchers. Individual game tickets, which start as low as $12, are also on sale now. For more information, visit www.amerks.com or call 1-855-GO-AMERKS.
