Amerks Assign MacKenzie to Elmira Jackals

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today that the team has assigned defenseman Matt MacKenzie to the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL.

MacKenzie, 23, has recorded one assist while appearing in two games with the Amerks this season. Last year, he appeared in 64 games with the Amerks, recording 10 points (2+8) and 84 penalty minutes to set career-highs in all categories. In 116 career AHL games with the Amerks, the 6-foot-1, 188-pound native of New Westminster, British Columbia, has registered 19 points (2+17) and 168 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in seven career ECHL contests with Gwinnett and Greenville. MacKenzie was selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the third round (83rd overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

The Amerks' next home game is Friday, Oct. 24 at 7:05 p.m. versus the Adirondack Flames. Individual Game Tickets start at just $12.
