Winnipeg 18, Kansas City 10
The Winnipeg Goldeyes took down the Kansas City T-Bones 18-10 in a slugfest that featured 37 hits between both teams. Three different Goldeye batters had four-hit games--1B Casey Haerther, RF Donnie Webb and CF Reggie Abercrombie. Each of the three players doubled on the night and they combined for seven runs and four RBIs. Nick Hernandez picked up the win for Winnipeg after throwing 5.1 innings and striking out seven batters while walking just one.
Sioux Falls 11, Gary SouthShore 7
The Sioux Falls Canaries used a few big offensive innings to take down the Gary SouthShore RailCats 11-7. The Canaries scored five times in the second inning and three times in the fifth in addition to one in the fourth and two in the sixth. 3B Carlos Mendez paced Sioux Falls offensively, going 3-4 with a triple, a double and three runs. C Matt Hitt went yard for the first time of the season as part of a 2-3 night.
Wichita 5, Sioux City 3
The Wichita Wingnuts held the Sioux City Explorers to just seven hits and three runs to pave the way to a 5-3 victory. Justin Klipp started on the hill for the Wingnuts and performed admirably, throwing six innings and alloweing three earned runs. He struck out six batters and walked three while surrendering six hits. Matt Nevarez grabbed the save after throwing a ninth inning that featured two strikeouts and just one hit allowed. C J.T. Wise hit his 14th double of the season while leading Wichita offensively in a 3-4 game.
Fargo-Moorhead 5, St. Paul 4
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks edged out the St. Paul Saints 5-4 thanks to a steady diet of runs throughout the game. The RedHawks only scored multiple runs in one inning (two in the eighth), but put up runs in the first, fourth and sixth. 3B Ronnie Bourquin and RF Tim Alberts both had three-hit games on the night, with Bourquin doubling for each hit. Taylor Stanton threw six shutout innings to pick up the win for Fargo-Moorhead. He struck out eight batters and walked two on 91 pitches.
Laredo 4, Lincoln 3
Two Laredo pitchers held the Lincoln Saltdogs to three runs throughout their game Thursday, helping the Lemurs to a 4-3 victory. Casey Harman started on the mound for Laredo and worked through eight innings while giving up nine hits and three runs. He struck out three Lincoln batters and walked none before handing the ball over to Chad Povich in the ninth. Povich picked up the save by shutting Lincoln in the frame. He struck out one batter and walked one. 11B Gerardo Avila scored the winning run for Laredo in the fourth inning on a leadoff home run--his second of the season.
