Sioux Falls got a solid outing from starter Doug Johnson and defeated Sioux City 5-2. Johnson went 8 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out five for his third win of the season. The X's got their two runs in the first, when 1B Dan Meier hit a one-out home run, driving in CF Zack Pace. The game was tied 2-2 until the seventh, when Sioux Falls pushed across three runs for the victory. DH John Schmitz and 2B Ralph Santana both had two hits for the Yellow Birds.

St. Paul 4, Lincoln 3

Down 3-2, RF Brian Buchanan blasted a two-run home run in top of the eighth to put St. Paul ahead 4-3 and keep the Saints' first-half championship hopes alive. The loss spoiled a decent performance by Lincoln starter Kyle Ruwe, who gave up one earned run in six innings of work but did not receive a decision. CF Evan Tartaglia went 3-for-4 with a first-inning solo home run and two runs scored for the Saltdogs, while CF Rob Fischer was 3-for-4 for St. Paul.

Shreveport at Coastal Bend, rained out

The Aviators and Sports were rained out and will play a doubleheader Sunday, with the first game starting at 3:05. With one win in the doubleheader, Shreveport will clinch at least a tie for the first-half South Division championship. With two wins, Shreveport will clinch the half outright. With two wins by Coastal Bend, the Aviators will clinch at least a tie for the South Division.

St. Joe 9, Pensacola 6

A five-run third propelled St. Joe past Pensacola 9-6. With the score tied at 1, the Blacksnakes got an RBI single from RF Wil Quintana, a sacrifice fly from LF Terrell Merriman and a three-run triple from C Mikaela Dworken to go ahead 6-1 after three. The Pelicans made a game of it with two runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth, but St. Joe tacked on a few insurance runs for the victory. Four different players had two hits for Pensacola, who was eliminated from the South Division race with the loss.

El Paso 4, Fort Worth 2

El Paso rallied to defeat Fort Worth 4-2 and damage the Cats' chances in the South Division race. The Cats led 2-0 until the Diablos tied the game with two runs in the sixth, and then went ahead with single runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Jose Garcia was effective in his first start of the season for the Diablos, allowing two runs on four hits in six innings of work. Fort Worth 3B Terence Green was the only player on either team to have more than one hit, going 2-for-4 with a run scored. The Cats must win Sunday and have Coastal Bend win at least one game against Shreveport in the doubleheader to clinch a tie for the South Division.
