Lincoln 6, St. Paul 5

Holding a comfortable 6-1 lead after seven innings the Lincoln Saltdogs held on for a nail-biting 6-5 victory over St. Paul. The Saints scored three times in the top of the eighth to pull within 6-4 before Lincoln brought reliever Chris Thompson on for the ninth. With two men out and a runner on first, Thompson walked three consecutive batter to force in a run before Brendon Smith came on to record the final out. Lincoln DH Argelis Nunez let the Saltdogs with two RBI and a run scored in a 2-for-4 night at the plate. St. Paul drew a total of 12 walks in the contest.

Wichita 10, Sioux City 0

Wichita scored four runs in each of the first two innings and cruised to a 10-0 win over Sioux City. Six Wingnuts had multi-hit games including 1B Carlos Rivera and DH Jorge Delgado who each drove in a pair of runs. C Jeff Christy added three RBI with a two-run double in the first inning and a run-scoring groundout in the fourth. Wichita starter Adam Cowart improved to 5-6 by tossing six scoreless innings in which he allowed six hits. The Wichita bullpen did the rest as three pitchers combined to hold the Explorers hitless the rest of the way.

Shreveport-Bossier 8, El Paso 5

Trailing 5-3 midway through the contest, Shreveport-Bossier rallied with two runs in the fifth inning and three more in the seventh to top El Paso 8-5. 1B Christopher Garcia's bases-loaded double tied the game before a RBI single from DH Palmer Carr and a RBI double from 2B Jorge Alvarez completed the Captains comeback. Shreveport-Bossier starter Cardoza Tucker pulled his record even at 3-3, striking out five and allowing two earned runs in eight innings.

Grand Prairie 9, Ft. Worth 5 (Game 1)

In game one of a doubleheader, Grand Prairie got a fast start from their offense to capture a 9-5 victory over Ft. Worth. The AirHogs hit Cats starter Joel Kirsten hard as they scored five runs on six hits in the first inning. Grand Prairie LF Daniel Berg finished 3-for-5 with a RBI and a run scored while 2B Antoin Gray went 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and a RBI. Ben Paxton tossed two hitless innings for Grand Prairie in relief and earned his first victory. With the loss, Kirsten's record fell to 3-5. Longtime Cats coach and baseball "lifer" Wayne Terwilliger, 85, was honored with a ceremony between games of the doubleheader. Terwilliger has announced his retirement effective at the conclusion of the 2010 season.

Grand Prairie 4, Ft. Worth 4 (Game 2 - In progress, Top 7)

Sioux Falls @ Pensacola

The scheduled game between Sioux Falls and Pensacola was postponed due to rain. It will be played as part of a doubleheader on Sunday August 8th.
