Sioux Falls got a great outing from starting pitcher Ben Moore and a walk-off solo home run off the bat of RF Beau Torbert to best Lincoln, 2-1, at home. Moore was lights out on the mound, allowing one run on five hits while striking out 11 in nine innings but did not factor in the decision. Instead it was reliever Aaron Cotter that was credited with the victory, running his mark to 4-1 on the season. Torbert led the charge offensively, finishing the contest 3-for-5 with the game-winning shot that led off the 10th inning. With the Lincoln loss and the St. Paul win, the Saltdogs and Wichita Wingnuts are now tied for first in the North Division second half standings with the Saints only a game back.

St. Paul pulled even with Lincoln in the Wild Card race thanks to a great outing from starting pitcher Mitch Wylie and plenty of offense in support of his effort. Wylie allowed two runs on six hits while striking out eight in seven innings of work to earn the win and improve to 8-7 on the year. Saints C Scott Knazek was 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, a run scored and four RBI. 3B Jeff Eure was 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored and two RBI while teammate SS Steve Butler was 1-for-4 with his first home run of the season.

Shreveport-Bossier 8, Pensacola 7

Shreveport-Bossier held an 8-2 lead entering the bottom of the seventh inning and almost let it slip away before securing a one-run win on the road. Captains starting pitcher Richard Salazar allowed two runs on eight hits while striking out eight in six innings of work to earn the win and improve his record to 5-1 on the year. 3B Andres Rodriguez led the way at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three doubles, two runs scored and a pair of RBI. 2B Jorge Alvarez also pitched in with a 3-for-5 effort that included a pair of runs scored and two RBI. With the win, the Captains pulled to within two games of first-place Pensacola in the South Division second half standings.
