Shreveport 17, Coastal Bend 5

Shreveport gave the home crowd quite an offensive show against Coastal Bend, pounding the Aviators for 17 runs on 19 hits. With the win Shreveport climbed within one game of South Division-leading El Paso. Four different Shreveport batters crossed home plate three times. The Sports did the bulk of their scoring in the middle innings, picking up 11 runs. Sports 1B Justin Humphries had perhaps the best performance of any Shreveport batter, going 4-for-6 with a run scored and six RBI. For the Aviators, 2B Bryan Fryer went 3-for-5 with a run scored.

Lincoln 10, Sioux City 7

Needing one run in the ninth to tie the game with Sioux City, Lincoln struck for five runs on six hits to take a four-run lead over the homestanding Explorers. The win is the Saltdogs' ninth in a row. Sioux City tried to mount a comeback, but managed just one run to fall three short of forcing extra innings. Saltdogs 3B Jay Yaconetti drove in five runs and scored once on a 2-for-4 night that included his first homerun of the season. Also with an impressive offensive outburst for Lincoln was LF Seth Pietsch, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. For the Explorers, DH Alex Llanos went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Sioux Falls 9, St. Joe 2

St. Joe scored the first run and the last run of its game in Sioux Falls Thursday night but the Canaries scored nine runs in between to earn a seven-run victory over the Blacksnakes. Sioux Falls DH Will Smith hit his second homerun of the season to punctuate a 2-for-5 night at the plate with four RBI and two runs scored. Canaries CF James Shanks also had an impressive offensive night, going 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Starting Sioux Falls pitcher Pat Mahomes remained undefeated on the season with eight innings of work, over which he allowed one run on six hits while striking out five St. Joe batters.

Pensacola 5, El Paso 4

Pensacola 2B Cesar Aranguern was perfect at the plate in Pensacola's win over El Paso. Aranguern went 4-for-4 with two RBI on the evening. With the score tied at four in the eighth inning, the Pelicans picked up one run on an Aranguern double to pull ahead for good. Pelicans starting pitcher Todd Androsko evened up his record at 2-2 with a seven-inning four-run performance in which he struck out three Diablos batters. Four Pensacola relievers combined to pitch the final two innings, allowing no runs on two hits, with Chris Thompson picking up his first save of the season. For the Diablos, 1B Jorge Alvarez went 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI.
