Cleburne 4, Chicago 3- Box Score
The Cleburne Railroaders (19-33) won a 14-inning game against the Chicago Dogs (20-33) in walk-off fashion on Sunday by a score of 4-3.
Railroaders' Angel Rosa scored the game's first run with a solo home run (7) in the bottom of the third. Later in the inning, Patrick Palmeiro drove in Chase Simpson with an RBI double. The Dogs cut the lead to one on a Matt Dean RBI single in the top of the fifth. Dean tied the game with an RBI double in the seventh and gave Chicago a lead by scoring two batters later on an RBI single by Kenny Wilson.
The Dogs held the lead until the bottom of the ninth when Cleburne scored on a two-out error to tie the game.
The game remained tied until Palmeiro hit a walk-off single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourteenth inning to give the Railroaders the win.
Chicago used seven pitchers in the loss, Cleburne used just three. Railroaders' starter Patrcick Mincey gave up just one earned run in six innings, but didn't factor in the decision. The win went to Cleburnes' closer, Shawn Blackwell (5-5), who pitched a season-high six scoreless innings of relief.
Wichita 9, Texas 2- Box Score
The Wichita Wingnuts (34-20) continued their winning ways with a 9-2 win over the Texas AirHogs (14-39) on Sunday.
The AirHogs scored first with a solo home run by Corelle Prime (4) in the top of the fourth. The Wingnuts answered with a John Nester grand-slam (3) in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-1 lead. Texas scored their final run in the top of the fifth when Stewart James hit an RBI single. Wichita's Tony Thomas (3-for-3) hit a two-run double and Nester hit a sacrifice fly to record his fifth RBI in the bottom of the fifth to push the lead to 7-2. Thomas picked up his third and fourth RBI with a two-run home in the bottom of the seventh to bring the game to its final score.
Tyler Kane (3-1) gave up just two earned in six innings of work to earn the win.
Winnipeg 10, Gary SouthShore 6- Box Score
Josh Mazzola (3-for-4) led the Winnipeg Goldeyes (24-32) to a 10-6 win over the Gary SouthShore Railcats (27-26) on Sunday.
The Goldeyes scored nine runs in a seven-hit bottom of the seventh that was capped with a three-run home run by Mazzola. The Railcats scored three in the next frame on a D.K. Carey home run (2). Mazzola added his 11th home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth to pick up his 46th RBI and push Winnipeg to 10-3 lead.
Alex Boshers (3-5) was awarded the win after giving up three earned in six innings of work.
Kansas City 5, St. Paul- Box Score
The Kansas City T-bones (34-20) allowed just two unearned runs in a 5-2 win over the St. Paul Saints (31-24) on Sunday.
Tommy Collier (5-3) was very sharp in his eight-inning start, giving up just two earned and four hits while striking out 10.
The T-Bones took a 1-0 lead on a solo home run by Colin Walsh (1) in the bottom of the first. The lead ballooned to 4-0 in the bottom of the third after Nick Torres hit an RBI ground rule and Noah Perio Jr. hit a two-run double. The Saints scored both of their runs on an error in the top of the sixth and the T-Bones scored their final run on a Dexter Kjerstad fielder's choice in the bottom of the sixth.
Kevin Hill pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning to earn the save (1).
Sioux Falls 9, Fargo-Moorhead- Box Score
The Sioux Falls Canaries (23-31) held the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (29-24) scoreless through seven innings to win 9-3 on Sunday.
Canaries' starter, Kevin Folman (3-1), earned the win after tossing six of the seven scoreless innings.
Mitch Glasser hit an RBI single in the bottom of the second to score the game's first run. Jordan Dean added an RBI single of his own in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 2-0 game. Maxx Garrett hit a two-run home run (6) in the bottom of the sixth. In the bottom of the seventh, Sioux Falls took a commanding 8-0 lead with a four-run inning that was capped with a three-run David Bergin home run (5). Leobald Pina gave the RedHawks their first run with a lead-off home run in the top of the eighth (5). Patrick Fiala hit a sacrifice fly in the next frame make it 9-1. Brennan Metzger (6) and Devan Ahart (7) hit back-to-back home runs to lead-off the top of the ninth and bring the game to its final score.
