Wichita 11, Sioux City 8- Box Score

The Wichita Wingnuts came out on top of a back and forth battle with the Sioux City Explorers on Sunday to earn an 11-8 win.

Abel Nieves and Tony Thomas hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the top of the first and John Nester followed with an RBI single. The Explorers scored two in the next frame with one coming on a Michael Lang solo home home run (5).

Both teams exchanged runs in the third and the fourth to make it a 5-4 game. Wichita scored another run in the top of the fifth, but Sioux City answered with four of their own in the bottom of the frame, with two coming on a two-run double by Jay Baum.

Wichita tied the game in the next frame with a two-run Tony Thomas home run (11). The Wingnuts took the lead in the seventh with a Logan Watkins RBI double and didn't look back, scoring two more in the top of the ninth.

Seth Harvey (5-1) pitched two scoreless innings of relief and was awarded the win. Austin Boyle pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save (1).

Lincoln 6, St. Paul 3- Box Score

The Lincoln Saltdogs (27-21) never trailed in a 6-3 win over the St. Paul Saints on Sunday.

The Saltdogs scored first on an RBI double by Nathaniel Maggio in the top of the fourth. In the next at-bat, added two on single by Brandon Jacobs. Maggio drove in another run in the sixth to make it a 4-0 game. In the bottom of the inning, the Saints answered with a two-run home run by Burt Reynolds (11) to cut the deficit to two. It became a one-run game in the bottom of the eight when St. Paul scored one on a Brady Shoemaker sacrifice fly.

Lincoln added insurance in the top of the ninth with a Brant Whiting RBI single and a Cesar Valera RBI triple.

Kyle Kinman (4-1) was awarded the win, lasting six innings and giving up two in the process. Jose Jose pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save (6).
