Winnipeg 8, St. Paul 4
Winnipeg broke an early 2-2 tie with two runs in the third inning and then added three more in the fourth to break open the game as the Goldeyes defeated the St. Paul Saints by the score of 8-4. Winnipeg CF Reggie Abercrombie had a terrific night offensively going 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI. Goldeyes LF Adam Heisler chipped in with a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a walk, two runs scored and a run batted in. Winnipeg starting pitcher Matthew Jackson tossed 5 1/3 innings and notched his fourth win of the year. Jackson allowed four runs, all earned, on nine hits.
Gary SouthShore 8, Kansas City 6
Gary SouthShore went out to a 7-1 lead after three innings and would hold on late to beat Kansas City, 8-6. RailCats CF Jon Jones had two hits in five at-bats along with a run scored and three RBI. RailCats C Michael Vaughn chipped in with two hits, including a home run, and two runs driven in. C. Gary SouthShore starter Fernando Gonzalez collected his first victory of the season. Gonzalez gave up four runs, three earned, on seven hits in five innings of work. For Kansas City in the loss, LF Adam Bailey had three hits and scored a pair of runs.
Sioux Falls 5, Wichita 2
Sioux Falls scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning to rally from a 2-0 deficit and beat Wichita by a 5-2 final. Canaries RF Jason Repko led the offense going 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. Sioux Falls CF Chris Grayson also had two hits on the night while 1B David Bergin scored a run and drove in one. Canaries pitcher Will Rankin tossed a scoreless seventh inning to pick up his first win of the year. Sioux Falls reliever Chase Johnson gave up a hit and a walk in the ninth but held on for his seventh save. For Wichita in defeat, C John Nester had a 2-for-3 game with a home run, a run scored and two RBI.
