Ameer Ismail Named IFL Co-Defensive Player of the Year

Bloomington, IL, 6/26/12 - Bloomington Edge linebacker Ameer Ismail has been named IFL Co-Defensive Player of the Year along with Wichita Wild defensive lineman Matt Moss. It is the first time that two players have split the award in league history.

Ismail set an IFL record this season with 167 tackles on defense. Colorado's Landon Jones previously held the record with 140 tackles. He had 83 solo tackles and 84 assisted tackles. Ismail also had three interceptions, two forced fumbles, and returned one for a touchdown. He recorded 5.5 sacks and one safety.
