Amarillo ThunderHeads News Release

AMARILLO, TX -This past season the Amarillo Sox belted out a record forty-five home runs at the Amarillo National Bank Sox Stadium that translated to much more than just runs on the scoreboard. Each home run produced a $100 donation to a local charity by Budweiser Distributing Company of Amarillo.

In a ceremony held at the Texas Panhandle War Memorial, Budweiser Distributing Company President/CEO and Amarillo Sox General Manager Mark Lee presented America Supports You Texas President Jack Barnes a check in the amount of $4,500 equaling the home runs hit this year.

Through "Here's to the Heroes" program, Budweiser is donating $100 for every home run hit in Major League Baseball to Folds of Honor, an organization that helps families of fallen soldiers. Although the "Here's to the Heroes" program is primarily a MLB promotion, Budweiser Distributing Company of Amarillo Brand Development Manager Shannon Williams approached Lee prior to the season with the idea of bringing that same concept in a partnership with the Amarillo Sox, ultimately spinning off the original program to create a more localized beneficiary through "Home Runs for Hometown Heroes".

"When Shannon approached me with the idea of creating a hometown version I didn't have to give it a second thought, the answer was we're in", Lee said. "America Supports You Texas has been a long-time charitable partner of ours and we anticipate that relationship continuing". "Jack (Barnes) does an outstanding job of gaining support for active and retired military in the Panhandle, which has allowed our organization to utilize the stadium as a venue to honor the men and women of the military over the years", Lee added.

Season tickets are available for purchase in-person or over the phone by visiting the Amarillo Sox Executive Offices at 801 South Polk Street or by calling (806) 242-4653. VISA, MasterCard, and Discover accepted.
