Amarillo Venom News Release
The Amarillo Dusters officially announced today that Head Coach Steve Perdue would not be returning for the 2008 campaign. Perdue guided the Dusters for three seasons.
"We will begin the search for our next Head Coach immediately," said Dusters General Manager Warren McCarty. "Our goal is to win the Arena Cup in 2008."
McCarty will remain in his role as General Manager, but his duties will now also entail overseeing all aspects of Football Operations as well as Community and Media Relations for the team.
"Success in this sport is measured in terms of winning championships on the field and being profitable on the financial side off the field. With the addition of Joe Morgado, I know that we can achieve both in 2008."
New Vice President Joe Morgado will arrive in Amarillo on Friday, after serving as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Florida Firecats of af2 since 2003. During Morgado's tenure, the Firecats finished in the top 3% among af2 teams in revenue generated, and have increased revenues and ticket sales each year since he joined the team. On the field, the Firecats have enjoyed tremendous success as well, playing in two Arena Cup Championship Games as well as four Conference Championship Games.
"I was fortunate enough to learn this business from one of the original AFL owners. He taught me that you need to be successful in the front office as well as on the field. It all starts with the owners. That is why I am very excited about this opportunity. The Amarillo ownership is one of the strongest in the league; they are dedicated and committed to making this franchise one of the premium franchises in the Af2, both on and off the field, a franchise that the city and its fans will be proud of. I am truly honored to be a part of it".
2008 Season Tickets are on now on sale. Call (806) 322-7277 for further details.
